The Koburg

Medieval walls telling us ancient tales

Formerly a property of the Lords of Gudon, Koburg castle in Gudon near Chiusa already existed in the middle of the 14th century. In 1571 it was destroyed by a fire and acquired its current aspect after a renovation. Of special interest are the culturally important mural paintings. Until 1814, the Koburg has been owned by the von Mayrhofen family. In 1883 it was purchased by professor Tobias von Wildauer. Today, the castle you pass during hiking tours around Gudon is in private property.
