Summersberg castle
A holiday in Gudon: living history
Go on a trip through the land of myths and legends: Isarco Valley in South Tyrol. The Summersberg Clan was mentioned for the first time in 1202, the fortress 1210-1211. The round tower and palais have been constructed after 1329 by the court lord Georg von Villanders and have mainly preserved their medieval core. In 1880 the castle was purchased by the Tyrolean myth scientist Ignaz Vinzenz Zingerle who wrote down some of the most interesting legends around Gudon. Today, the castle is in private property.
